Gameloft's hit arcade racer, Asphalt 9: Legends, has now made its way over to macOS Catalina, and it sounds like a great port.
The Mac version was originally announced last June on stage at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, though despite the lengthy wait, bringing Asphalt 9 to Mac has apparently been achieved 'in a very streamlined way' thanks to the tools provided by Apple's very own Mac Catalyst development platform.
'Players will experience all of the same content on macOS, iPadOS and iOS, including the boundary-pushing graphics of Asphalt 9: Legends on an even bigger screen and at higher resolutions while running at 60fps'.
That's all very good news, as is the announcement that you'll be able to carry your progress into the new version. Going forward, the Mac port will have total content parity with the popular iOS version.
I reviewed the recent Switch port of Asphalt 9: Legends back in October of last year, finding that it 'serves up the glitz of a high-quality arcade racer, though its hollow core makes for an overlong, vapid experience when compared to its Switch contemporaries'.
That said, ex-Ed Harry was a whole lot fonder of it than me when he reviewed the mobile originals in 2018, saying 'Asphalt 9 offers controls for everyone, fun for everyone, and white-knuckle, cackling-with-laughter crashes for everyone', before awarding it a Gold Rating.
User reviews are a little less divided, with the game holding an impressive 4.8 stars on the US App Store and 4.5 stars on Google Play. Best give Gameloft's megahit a go yourself and see where your opinion of it falls.

Hello everyone, you can now download Asphalt 9: Legends for Mac and finally you will experience one of the best racing games on any system for the past 5 years.
Today we will highlight some reasons why we think you should go ahead and install Asphalt 9: Legends on your macOS and play one of the best racing games around. This game was released earlier on other platforms including iPhone, Windows, Nintendo Switch and of course Android. I had previously played Asphalt 8 on my Windows 10 PC a year or so ago and it was fun to say the least, when I found out that Asphalt 9 was going to be ported to Mac in 2020, I had to get my hands on it and so far, it works pretty damn well. I think because the game was ported, some bugs are expected but I think they will be fixing any issues, especially with the controls as time goes.
